L'Estage Wins at Tall Pines, Extends Series Lead

Antoine L'Estage and Alan Ockwell put on a clinic at the 2017 edition of the Rally of the Tall Pines. Winning stage after stage, the Subaru Rally Team Canada crew were unmatched on Tall Pines' tricky stages.

And their victory means that heading into the season finale, the Big White Winter Rally, L'Estage simply needs to start in order to clinch his 10th Canadian Rally Championship title.

"We took a big lead early in the day and then we managed it." Recalled L'Estage, "The car was perfect, no punctures, nothing, so just a good rally.

Global Rallycross Lites class competitor and CRC newcomer Conner Martell finished a surprise second. With veteran codriver Greg Dorman calling pacenotes, the Vermont Sportscar team managed several mechanical issues on route to their podium finish.

"This is really exciting, I didn't come here planning on getting on the podium at all." Martell allowed, "To be able to have me and my first time codriver come and get a second place behind Antoine is huge. I had a lot of fun out here!"

Leo Urlichich and Alex Kihurani rounded out the overall podium, clinching the Production 4WD Championship in the process. Once again trading stage times with more powerful open class cars, Leo added yet another great result to his comeback season in the CRC.

"It was a big mission to prove that I can actually stay on the road for this season." Leo admitted, "If you take the WRC season, this is the second season in a row that I'm staying on the road!"

Sean Burke and Timothy Bauer were the only 2WD team to finish at Tall Pines. With most of their competitors out of action, the pair navigated the challenging stages to achieve their first 2WD class win.

The Canadian Rally Championship wraps up at the Big White Winter Rally in Kelowna, BC. With the championship effectively spoken for, Big White should be an opportunity for some lesser-known competitors to make some noise on the national stage.
