L'Estage Rounds out 2017 with a Win at Big White

Antoine L'Estage and Alan Ockwell closed out their 2017 Canadian Rally Championship season with yet another victory at the Big White Winter Rally. By virtue of simply starting the event, L'Estage clinched his 10th series title, capping off yet another dominant season in the series.

After retiring from the first two events of the 2017 season, L'Estage swept the remainder of the championship, winning the remaining 5 events en route to the series title.

Brandon Semenuk and John Hall finished second. In a season that saw the Semenuk notch his first ever CRC victory, standing on the podium once again to round out the season seemed appropriate.

Semenuk and Hall performed admirably at Big White, and will without a doubt look to carry that momentum into 2018.

Latvian rally champion Maris Neiksans and Liga Kotane rounded out the overall podium in third. The pair faced down technical issues as the event came to a close, but were able to hang on to round out the podium in their first CRC event.

Despite the fact that they had clinched the 2WD title earlier in the season, Dave Wallingford and Leanne Junnila rounded out their championship with yet another victory at Big White.

Consistency was key for Wallingford in the tricky conditions, and he and Junnila struck a perfect balance between pace and stability en route to their class win.

Matt and Dan Bobyn finished second in 2WD in their VW Golf, ahead of several faster cars.

Jason Bailey and Shayne Peterson rounded out the class podium in third in their Fiesta R2.

The Canadian Rally Championship now heads into its relatively short offseason. The 2018 championship begins on February 3rd at Rallye Perce Neige in Maniwaki, Quebec.
